FAQ

Do you need the base game to play KIBORG: Descent?
Yes. The Steam page says the DLC requires the base game KIBORG on Steam to play, and the store bundle lists both items.
How do you unlock KIBORG: Descent content?
The 30 April 2026 launch post says content from the DLC becomes available only after completing the main game for the first time. A Gamer Social Club review says you must clear the hardest base difficulty and that Descent starts at Level 8; that is a reviewer report, not repeated in the launch post.
What difficulty levels does Descent add?
The store page advertises two new difficulty levels. Patch notes refer to difficulty levels 8 and 9, add skulls to both, and say Descent difficulty automatically rises from 8 to 9 after completion.
Which bosses are in Descent?
The store page promises three legendary bosses from the lore and names the chance to beat Volkov. Patch notes also mention Ronin, the Hoarder and a Disruptor boss level. No source we read lists exactly which three are the legendary trio.
Is the DLC well reviewed?
On Steam it showed Mixed, 58% positive from 34 user reviews, on 31 October 2026. That is a small sample. One May 2026 review reported bugs at launch, and the studio shipped several Descent balance and fix patches afterward.

KIBORG: Descent is Sobaka Studio’s paid expansion for KIBORG, released on 30 April 2026. The Steam page describes Morgan pushing below the levels he has already conquered into the deepest part of the Omega-201 tower. This page covers how it unlocks, what the official notes say it adds, and where reviewers disagree with the studio. We have not played it for this wiki, so everything below is sourced.

What does KIBORG: Descent add?

According to the Steam store page, it adds:

  • Three Circles of Hell: the flooded ruins of an ancient civilization, an abandoned KENKOU factory with a death conveyor, and darker realms.
  • Over 10 new enemies, three legendary bosses from the KIBORG lore and new traps.
  • Two new difficulty levels for true masters.
  • A confrontation with Volkov, which the page calls “just the beginning” of the long-overdue showdowns.

The launch notes add horizontal split-screen for local co-op, a Bestiary, new weapons and “the grand conclusion of the main story”. The store page lists the DLC as requiring the base game.

How do you unlock Descent?

Sobaka Studio’s 30 April 2026 post gives two notes:

  1. Access: content from the DLC becomes available only after completing the main game for the first time.
  2. Difficulty: the balance is challenging and assumes you have upgraded most of KIBORG’s enhancements. The team recommends being ready for a serious challenge.

What difficulty levels does Descent add?

  • 2 May 2026 (Descent hotfix #2): Descent difficulty now automatically increases from the 8th to the 9th level after completion.
  • 9 May 2026 (Rapid patch #4): skulls were added to difficulty levels 8 and 9 to show the fight will be tough.
  • 14 July 2026 (Total Rebalance): a major Descent balance pass. The curve is smoother, and the notes describe a Difficulty Level 1 for players still progressing the base upgrade system and a Level 2 for those who find Tower Difficulty 7 too easy.

Which bosses belong to Descent?

Patch notes name Volkov, Ronin, the Hoarder (a safe-spawning fix on 15 June 2026) and a Disruptor boss level (7 May 2026). The store page promises three legendary bosses but does not name all three, so we do not list a roster. Novak is the base-game final boss: the 14 June 2025 Endless update says “after defeating Novak, you can now continue your run in Endless Mode”. For that fight see the final boss guide.

What about weapons and implant sets?

  • Chainsaw: Gamer Social Club lists a chainsaw among the new weapons. Official notes confirm it exists: a 7 May 2026 fix for the third hit, and longer dashes on 11 May 2026.
  • Implant sets: KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan, answering a question in June 2026, said all the existing sets are available in the base game, with no Descent needed. Gamer Social Club, on the other hand, says there are no new implant sets until you finish the greatest Descent difficulty. Those may describe different things (ownership versus unlock timing), so we treat set unlock timing as unconfirmed. Showstopper, the newest set, shipped separately in an update on 3 August 2026. See the implants list.

Is KIBORG: Descent worth buying?

The sourced picture is mixed. On Steam it showed Mixed, 58% positive from 34 reviews on 31 October 2026, which is a small sample. Gamer Social Club’s review (played on Xbox Series X) praised the base game but described Descent as demanding and bug-prone at launch, and said many of those problems were addressed in later updates. The studio’s own note says the DLC is designed for experienced players.

Reasonable reading, and our judgement rather than a source: buy it if you already enjoy the core loop, have upgraded your hub tree and want the story ending the launch post promises. Wait if you are still on lower Tower levels. The beginner guide covers that stage.
